ABOUT
Emma Whitaker (b. 1991, Atlanta) is an abstract painter and world builder. Emma creates surrealist landscape paintings inspired by the Italian landscape. Her paintings combine the formal interests of abstract modernism with the sensibility of nineteenth century Romantic painting. Her mediums are acrylic, oil and collage.
Emma was raised near Ravenna, Italy and San Luis Obispo, CA. She studied 17th century Italian Art History at Emory University (B.A.) and received her Fine Art degree in Painting from Maine College of Art (B.F.A.). Her work is collected internationally. Emma teaches art at a private school outside of Washington, D.C.
